Alfalfa

Lytle Red Angus has been producing alfalfa hay since 1978. On an annual basis we produce approximately 3000 tons of hay – the consistent majority being USDA Supreme Quality alfalfa. Utilizing modern technologies and innovative practices, we optimize our hay quality by minimizing the time our hay lays in the field. Additionally, we have developed a holistic approach to managing our hay fields; healthy soils create healthy plants that create the highest quality hay. In our pursuit of healthy soil, we employ several regenerative practices such as: split application of fertilizer, cover crops (in our alfalfa), ruminant grazing, and working with an agronomist to pioneer methods of controlling common alfalfa diseases. This combination of technological innovation and holistic management allows us to consistently produce the finest in USDA Supreme Quality dairy and horse hay on the market.
